skywatcher telescopes and astronomy
telescope need help!?

I am very new to all this and I received a telescope for Christmas one of his M-130 130mm EXPLORER SKYWATCHER! Now I do not know Astronomy anything but I love the space star, etc! Now I got everything and I am able to look at the moon, but when it comes to stars and other planets all I can see is black!

I have one of those seekers of red spots and focus on a star or planet (Mars to be exact) but still comes out black! Can you help me why so, as though I were watching the moon for an hour would be great to see some more!

The red dot is supposed to be centered in the exact center of field of view of the main telescope. If not, there are little knobs that adjust the position of the point (up / down, right / left). Take your scope during the day and try to point to a reference point distance (preferably does not move with the wind and the farther away the better).

Get the landmark in the center of the field in the main telescope. Now in the form of red dot and knobs to adjust the red dot is centered in what is largely scope (make sure not to push the telescope during this time. You can refine the alignment in the night on the Moon or a bright star. You should now be ready to consider all that the objective of the telescope.
