Clean telescopes questions?

Hello, I'm looking for good advice on what to clean telescope mirrors and lenses. I have Dobsonian10 inch reflector both a telescope and a Meade ETX-80 and I am looking for advice on how I would go about cleaning my mirror reflector for my Dob10 and cleaning my lens for my Meade ETX-80. I was talking to another person who holds a 10-inch Dobsonian and told me that it's best to use something like a "sham-wow-" to clean the mirror. I ask because I do not want scratch or damage the lens or mirror any of these new telescopes. He said that to avoid paper towels. Is there a specific team should come clean my domains with? or is easy to get things that work well for cleaning my computer? What would be best for my lens refractors and what is best for my reflective mirror? and how do I clean my Dob10 as basically a giant tube with a large mirror on the bottom?

Be very careful with the mirror. Aluminium in the top of the glass is fragile and easily scratched and common cleaning chemicals can cause if it comes out. Having said that – here are some links to help you out – http://www.televue.com/engine/page.asp?ID=143 http://www.cloudynights.com/item.php?item_id=510 http://www.wwnorton.com / Y http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9Y8xFnXFVGQ college/astronomy/astro21/sandt/optics.html this is how big do – The http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jr2Jmpj5Z_U&feature=related http://www.gemini.edu/documentation/webdocs / rpt/rpt-te-g0073.pdf The main thing is to use a lot of distilled water for rinsing. DO NOT use filtered water, and still has minerals in it that you will find the lens. Let air dry optics. Plan on taking quite a bit of time and work without distractions. Do not go cheap in the cleaning cloths. They are what keep the mirror and wall insurance. Improve your skills for the reflector collimation. If your primary mirror is not "points", to do so – http://dobstuff.com/centerdot.htm http://www.astro-tom.com/telescopes/newtonian.htm Good luck!
