I can not see out of my new voyager sky tour 900x114mm reflector telescope?
I have it today and set it up and took all the lens cvers and dust covers the. There are things you put three pieces in the eye and I think that is the magnifiiers. in them is said about 8 mm and 12.5 mm sr4mm. What do they mean? I put the 12.5mm and I can not see nothing but black. I tried to focus on something but could not see anyting so i couldnt focus it on anything. any suggestions? I really want to use it! heres a link to the intstruction telescope manual: http://bushnell.com/manuals/telescopes/SkyTour_Voyager.pdf thank you! haha does not matter. I reallly stupid mistake. what stands on the side of selsecope I thought it had to be at the bottom and look up at the other end. I was wrong. : P that the parties supposed to be on top. haha and I thought the picture on the manual is wrong. BUT THANK YOU FOR BOTH!
Did you remove parts _both_ the front lens cap? These often come in two parts, like a donut and the hole, and you must remove _both_ parties, so that the entire telescope is open. Try to use the telescope in daylight first, to get their operations, focusing on something at least a quarter mile away. If it's still black, the telescope may need collimation: the alignment of its mirrors. If you look in the eyepiece holder without an eyepiece in place, you should see the secondary mirror. It should be a reflection of the primary mirror at the bottom of the tube, and that a reflection the upper end of the tube with the secondary mirror in the middle with the support of three or four ribs. The three mirrors should be concentrated. Adjust the secondary mirror in the center of reflection of the primary mirror, and adjust the primary mirror to center the secondary mirror reflection: ((o)) The three eyepieces offer different magnifications. You will use 12.5 mm, most of: 72 providing power. The 8mm gives 112x. The 4 mm would 225x, but this is more power than this telescope is capable of. Use the 12.5mm! I recommend Shadow of the night by Terence Dickinson (Firefly) as a good book to get you started.
